Summer Programs for current high school studentsAg-DISCOVERY - Students learn about careers in plant science and veterinary medicine. Students listen to lectures, conduct laboratory experiments, and participate in workshops and field trips. Students live on campus and also participate in character and team-building exercises. 4-H Camp and Conference Centers - The 4-H camping experience will help youth ages 6 to 19 develop life skills in areas such as: building self-esteem, responsibility, decision making, cooperation, social skills, sharing, leadership and teamwork. Camping offers youth the opportunity to do experiential learning activities in a setting that is not available in everyday life. Youth will experience positive peer and adult relationships. Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders - The NC Farm Bureau sponsors a week-long program in the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education at NC State for high school students interested in the industry of agriculture. Poultry Science Summer Institute - Students interested in biology or a career in the poultry industry attend a four-day, four-night conference designed to broaden the high school students' understanding of the educational disciplines, scholarship opportunities, careers and industries related to poultry science. Summer College in Biotechnology and Life Sciences (SCIBLS) - Students take courseswork for college credit, challenging students beyond high school academics. VetCAMP - VetCAMP is for high school students taking place June 27th- July 1 from 9 am-5 pm. This camp is designed to allow pre-veterinary high school students to delve into the immense field of veterinary medicine. Students will hear from veterinarians in many different fields and take a behind the scenes tour of the NC State University Vet School. Lessons will be given on veterinary clinic basics, surgery, dissections and anatomy.
