Please note: The Thomas Jefferson Scholars Program is by invitation only. If you have not received an invitation via email, you are not eligible for this program. Qualified applicants to NC State University should apply for the Thomas Jefferson Scholars Program prior to university acceptance notification. The Scholars selection process will begin immediately after the university acceptance decisions are made on or before January 30th. Please note that eligibility for the Thomas jefferson Scholars Program does not guarantee university admission.
The Application forms are online.
The deadline for submitting the application form is March 4, 2016.
How to Apply
Each year, approximately fifteen outstanding high school seniors are chosen to participate in the Jefferson Scholars Program. The application process starts with filling in the online application form.
The application includes
1) writing an essay about your interest in the Program,
2) submitting an evaluation from a teacher or counselor or other school official, and
3) high school transcript that we will pull from your NCSU application.
You will receive email confirmation of your completed application, so please check your email for it and let us know if you encounter a problem.
We will invite a set of finalists to visit the campus on Saturday, April 2 for an interview. The visit is also a good opportunity to meet current Jeffersonians, and find out more about their activities. The new class of Jefferson Scholars will be notified of acceptance shortly after the visit.
The Jefferson Scholars enter either the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences or the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. Once enrolled, and before the second year of study, they also declare a second major. Successful participation in the Program leads to scholarship support for continuing students.
