Do I need my own computer at NC State?
the essential information on recommended computer specifications and connecting to campus computing resources. While computers are not required, approximately 97% of entering CALS students bring computers to school, and 99% of those are Windows PCs. We recommend that CALS students follow the university recommendations unless otherwise directed by their major departments. 

Antivirus Software Available to all Students
the university makes the latest version of Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition available to all students, faculty, and staff at no cost. CALS students are strongly encouraged to download and install this software on their personal computers.
