A public foundation is a legal categorization of nonprofit organization that will typically either donate funds and support to other organizations, or provide the source of funding for its own charitable purposes.
The North Carolina Agricultural Foundation, Inc. and the North Carolina Tobacco Foundation, Inc., both public foundations, were established to support teaching, research and extension activities at or through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University.
That means the foundations:
- Accept gifts and grants for specific or unrestricted purposes
- Create endowments and other restricted funds with gifts from donors
Gifts and grants to the foundations are deductible to the full extent of the law.
Several non-incorporated entities operate under the North Carolina Agricultural Foundation. Information on all our "foundations" can be found using the buttons to the left.
