In April, 2010, the newly formed North Carolina Extension and Community Association Foundation was launched at a joint foundation board meeting. This foundation has established a 30 member board of directors and Mrs. Sylvia Churchwell from Lee County is serving as its first president. Since its inception, the Southeast and South Central Districts have established enhancement funds within the foundation and several counties have joined the foundation. The foundation will assist the local, county, district, and state Extension and Community Associations with the management of their private resources. Those funds placed in the foundation become a part of the NC Agricultural Foundation’s portfolio but the local groups have access and control of their funds to support their programs.
