Abstract Title : BIO 483: Parkinson's Disease
Abstract :
Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta, consequently leading to clinical and pathological abnormalities.  Classic clinical symptoms include gait disturbance, resting tremor, and rigid muscles. Despite intensive research, the specific mechanism of PD remains elusive. Popular treatment options include L-Dopa administration and Deep Brain Stimulation. Protection from inflammation could help alleviate the progression of the disease. Our goal is to identify potential targets for preventing the disease.
