Windows PCs updates to move from Friday to 3 AM Saturday mornings.

The Wolftech domain administrator group on campus announced recently that Windows updates and patches will move from the current Friday morning schedule  to Saturday mornings, beginning in October 2018. We will notify our users prior to the change and remind them to not shut down over weekends to allow the updates and patches to apply and for computers to reboot. Let us know if you have any questions. This will not apply to those previously approved as exceptions to the reboot policy.

New Endpoint Protection Standard

On May 1, 2018, the Vice Chancellor for Information Technology issued the new Endpoint Security Standard. This standard applies to every user of NC State’s network, which includes users of University-owned resources and devices, as well as, personally owned resources and devices. For those departments managed by CAAT, all controls must be in place by June 30, 2019. In the next few weeks, we will be contacting CAAT supported departments to identify those NCSU machines not yet managed by us to schedule them for inclusion into our CMS and to make sure they are secure. There is an exception process. Read more here:
