Networking

Although many companies use the internet to advertise their positions, most people still find jobs through someone that they know.  Networking may seem intimidating, but it's a lot easier than you think it is.  Start with the people you are closest to like your friends and family.  Ask them if they know anyone in your industry or the company you want to work for.  You'll be amazed at how fast your network grows and how willing people are to help you.  Ask each person that you meet for another contact.  Set up appointments with your contacts to learn more about their job or company.  Remember, you aren't asking for a job - just information and advice.  Here are a few resources to help you along:
