The Cultivating High Achieving Motivated Professionals and Scholars (CHAMPS) Project is a new partnership, led by the NCSU Office of Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Institute for Capacity Building Enrollment Management Program. The CHAMPS Project will expose undergraduate students from private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) to graduate degree programs as well as undergraduate research opportunities available in five colleges at NCSU including CALS, College of Engineering, College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Textiles and College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The main goals of the project are to:
• Encourage and create opportunities for members of underrepresented groups to participate in summer undergraduate research opportunities at NCSU.
• Expose members of underrepresented groups to graduate education at NCSU and encourage them to consider one of NCSU’s graduate programs of study.
• Build a network among the 39 private HBCU’s to promote graduate education at NCSU.
