Canned Food Drive: The Pre-Health Club will be collecting canned foods for Urban Ministries. A donation of ten cans or ten dried food items is worth 1 point. All items should be turned in to the HealthPAC office by September 9th and there is a maximum of 2 points from this project.
Operation Xmas Child: Club members will have the opportunity to put together shoe boxes for Operation Xmas Child. These shoe boxes, which will be sent to children overseas who may not receive a Christmas present otherwise, will be packed with toys, toiletry items, and notes. Students will tailor the items in the box to a child of a certain gender and age range to ensure appropriate gifts. More announcements will come soon on deadlines and how to submit the boxes to the HealthPAC office.
Bounce Back Kids: Bounce Back Kids is an organization that provides educational services and recreation activities to children receiving medical treatment for serious illnesses and to their families. On September 24th, we will host a picnic and Frisbee golf tournament with BBK at Kentwood Park in Raleigh. Student volunteers are needed for the event and Frisbee donations are needed as well. A donation of three ultimate Frisbees (the event is disc golf, but ultimate discs will be easier and safer for the kids to throw) is worth one point.
Hemlock Bluffs: On October 9th, we will help out with Bounce Back Kids’ Nature Day at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve in Cary. The event will include short hike and a tour given by the nature center. There will also be a small picnic, at which yogurt will be provided for all kids and volunteers.
