Mass spectrometry is a powerful technique used for the characterization of proteins and other biomolecules derived from complex biological systems. The MS facility provides access to state-of-the-art instrumentation for protein identification and quantification, characterization of post-translational modifications, protein-protein interaction studies, and differential expression proteomics studies.  In combination with other techniques such as liquid chromatography, gel electrophoresis, chemical crosslinking, and co-immunoprecipitation, a variety of complex biological problems may be addressed.  The facility serves as a resource for research programs at NCSU as well as other academic and industrial laboratories in the RTP area.
