Astigmated mite: Short palps, short legs, single tarsal claw. First and second pair of epimerae fuse at their posterior tips to form a triangle.  Pedicels of fist legs short.

Identify:
Astigmated mite: Short palps, short legs, single tarsal claw. First pair of epimerae fuse to form a Y-shape.  Pedicels of fist legs elongate and unsegmented.  Triangular scales on its dorsum.  Posterior anus.

Identify:
Mesostigmated mite: Long palps, long legs, two tarsal claws. Chelae of chelicera very indistinct.  Anus in posterior half of anal plate.
7. Sheep Under a large skin scab

Identify:
Astigmated mite: Short palps, short legs, single tarsal claw. First pair of epimerae do not fuse.   Pedicels of fist legs elongate and are segmented.
8. Poultry skin

Identify:
Mesostigmated mite: Long palps, long legs, two tarsal claws. Chelae of chelicera relatively large.  Anus in anterior half of anal plate.
