Event Details:

Event Title: Workshop on constructing a composting bin and/or a worm bin
Description: Have you every wondered if those kitchen scraps - the eggshells, carrot tops, tomato and potato skins, etc. - might be put to better use than filling up the County landfill? The answer is "yes". You can make your own "black gold" from those scraps in the form of garden compost. There will be a workshop on Oct. 5 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Core Sound Waterfowl and Heritage Museum to show you how to build a compost bin and to teach you what to put in it, how to maintain it, and how to use the finished product. For those with smaller spaces and less scrap waste, you will learn about composting with worms, and how to build a worm bin. This workshop, sponsored by the Carteret County Cooperative Extension Service and it's Master Gardener Volunteers, in partnership with the Museum, is free and open to the public. Register here online, or call 222-6359.
