FIELD ID CHARACTERISTICS:

This species usually has 10 or more umbellets per flowering umbel, and 10 or more flowers per umbellet.

Description: Fine-leaved, semi-erect herb, 30 to 60 cm tall, with tiny, white, umbel flowers.

Leaves: Leaves thread-like, divided several times.

Flowers/Fruit: Umbels of tiny white flowers, petals only about 1 mm long and wide. Fruits light brown, ribbed oval-shaped. Flowers June to August; fruits July to September.

Habit and Range: Open and sunny wet places, such as marshes, ditches, depressions, and swamp and bottomland openings in the Coastal Plain and lower Piedmont.
