When is the application due?

Applications are due January 31st, 2024, or until all positions are filled.  Notice of any deadline extension will appear on the home page.

Where do I send my application?

The application will need to be filled out electronically and submitted online. A link to the online application form can be found on the home page.

Am I eligible to apply if I am not a U.S. citizen?

U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, and citizens of Puerto Rico are eligible to apply.

Am I eligible to apply if I am not an undergraduate student?

No, all BeeMORE participants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a two-year or four-year college or university.

When will I be notified if I have been accepted?

We plan to notify all applicants of admission status by March 1st, 2024.

What are the dates of the BeeMORE program?

The 2024 program will begin on May 26th and end on July 27th.

Is there a stipend or other benefits provided for the program?

Each student will recieve a stipend of $500 per week during the program. Lodging and daily food allowances are also included, as well as some travel support for participants living out of state.

Stipend

$500 per week for up to 9 weeks ($4,500 total) contingent upon full participation.

Tax implications are the responsibility of each student.

Meals

$1,000 will be provided in the first week for food allowance for the entire summer.

All meals and food expenses will be the responsibility for each student as they see fit for the entire summer.

Housing

Pays for housing in Wolf Village apartments; linens included (no towels)

There is no program support for off-campus housing if the participant chooses to do so.

Travel

Reimburse up to $600 for travel, including but not limited to a round-trip airline ticket, taxi or uber from RDU airport, or reimburse for mileage at the state rate.

Provide travel options to program coordinator to book; coordinate airport transport; meals during travel; receipts required.

Travel costs above $600; also responsible for all in-state travel as part of research project.

Parking

Will pay for student parking pass for the summer ($75). Check campus transportation for suitable parking areas.

Notify program if parking is needed prior to start date. Any parking fines or tickets are the responsibility of the student.

Healthcare

None

Students are expected to have their own health plan. Can visit on-campus student health center but need to work with them and their insurance.

Scientific Supplies

Will reimburse faculty charges up to $1,000 per student.

Initial purchase of all supplies, reagents, and additional labor for participant research project. Need to provide an account number to reimburse by IDT up to $1,000 per student.

OneCard Student ID

$20 required to purchase campus ID at Talley Student Center on first day.
